FoodLosophy, because we speak the language….

We spend a lot of our time eating, thinking about what to eat and working for long hours so that we may have something to eat. Eating is second nature to us – everyone. When one is hungry, one will find food.

At Foodlosophy, we look deeper beyond just eating. We look at the diverse philosophical issues related to food be they be political, moral or metaphysical. Through this focus on food, we go further by understanding mechanics of managing food. From the choosing of the produce to the people behind the preparation and presentation of food, we also look into the concepts, operations, hiring and training of staff, profitability and openings.

Through the focus on food, we see how philosophy can bring fresh perspectives and a deeper understanding to everyday life issues.

“Philosophy is the study of general and fundamental problems concerning matters such as existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language. It is distinguished from other ways of addressing fundamental questions by its critical, generally systematic approach and its reliance on rational argument. The word “philosophy” comes from the Greek φιλοσοφία (philosophia), which literally means “love of wisdom”.”

1) We understand the Nature of Food and their Being in the World. This brings back the idea of food being the focal point.

2) We are concerned with the nature of food and beverage businesses and our scope of knowledge will meet the challenges posed in this notoriously competitive industry. We will advise on the mêlée posed by Skepticism and their relationship between Truth, Belief and Justification.

3) We are also concerned about Moral Philosophy. It will help you understand how businesses should be conducted through ethical thoughts, comparison of various business ethics and their ethical truths.

4) We are strong believers of Aesthetics. It deals with beauty, art, enjoyment, multi-sensory emotional values, perception and matters determining tastes and sentiments.

5) We also deliberate on Logic – logic being the study of valid argument forms. Operating food and beverages businesses is more than just common sense. There are judgments to be made, reasons to be explained and intelligence in carrying them out.

6) We see increasing similarity in understanding the diner’s mind and Cognitive Science. How the food presented on the table will be presented to the brain via perception and subsequently actions by the body.

Expertise
We offer clients and partners a 5 fold proposition.

Industry intelligence
Through more than 15 years of exposure, we understand changing consumer and industry demands, needs and lifestyle attitudes to create concepts that work.

Track Record
Stable concrete track record of conceptualising, creating and executing regional and local projects. Iconic in nature, they range from multi-outlet operations to stand-alone entities.

Global Networks
An extensive and comprehensive network of the latest, most relevant hotel and restaurant operators, internationally-acclaimed chefs, wine makers, equipment manufacturers and food and beverage suppliers across Asia, Europe and USA.

Operator Experience
With actual operator experience, we appreciate the needs, aspirations and objectives of both operators as well as owners – a combination that is crucial to success.

Viable creativity
Our creative concepts go beyond stunning expressions. Whilst important, our concepts provide sound business models that provide a return-on-investment by way of branding, reputation and financial gains.
